Dear Rockland County Youth,

BRIDGES would like to invite you to the first meeting of our social group YAY! (Youth and You)  YAY! is for young people ages 12 and 18 with disabilities. Through this group, we will create our own social network for fun, enjoyment, sharing resources, education, and getting ready to transition to adulthood.

The first meeting will be on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 3pm at BRIDGES, 873 Route 45, Suite 108, New City, NY 10956, two days before Halloween! The first meeting will be a meet and greet to get to know each other.  We will form a mission statement,  form a group of a few youth who want to participate in making a logo for the group and come up with a plan to move forward with what we want to do each time we meet. Remember this group is for youth by the youth, and the Peer Specialist will guide them through the process. We will talk about our feelings about Halloween, and possibly plan ideas for after the first group. If any youth are interested in doing something for Halloween, we can discuss this as well as discussing things to do for those who don’t like Halloween.  If you need accommodations, please contact me, Jason Ross, at jross@bridgesrc.org. YAY! is an opportunity for all youth with disabilities throughout Rockland County to form a network of friendships, partnerships, compassion for one another, working with each other, creating a life now for a smoother transition to adulthood, and believing in each other.

Bring your ideas, interests, and concerns – for example, possible entrepreneurships after high school, job opportunities, or possible housing options.  Together, we will work toward solutions. Learn about the services BRIDGES offers for youth transitioning to adulthood.

Let’s make YAY! part of YOUR community!
