FOOD RECOVERY ASSISTANT
Help prevent hunger, reduce food waste and promote health by joining the Rockland Community Against Hunger’s (RCAH) Food Recovery team. The RCAH Food Recovery program is a collaboration of TOUCH-Together Our Unity Can Heal, BRIDGES, the Martin Luther King Center, and Meals on Wheels of Rockland. These agencies work together to pick-up, recover, store and distribute food to over 45 pantries and feeding programs across Rockland County.
The RCAH Food Recovery Assistant will pick up recovered food from the regional Food Bank and locally from supermarkets, stores, farms, farmers’ markets, and monthly “Get Fresh” food distributions.
The Food Recovery Assistant will deliver and unload food at TOUCH in Congers, MLK Center in Spring Valley, and other pantries, feeding programs, and hubs across Rockland County. He or she will be responsible for sorting, stocking, and delivering recovered food, as well as direct distributions throughout the County.
The Food Recovery Assistant will work 20-25 hours per week. The Assistant will be an employee of BRIDGES under the supervision of the RCAH Food Recovery Coordinator based at TOUCH.
